Event details

The Regional District of Nanaimo, City of Nanaimo, District of Lantzville and Town of Qualicum Beach are hosting a workshop on policy approaches to support rapid uptake of energy efficient, low/no emission new buildings in the region. This workshop aims to gather input from professionals in the building industry regarding ways to decrease building emissions and energy usage. Feedback will be collected on adopting the Zero Carbon Step Code and higher levels of the BC Energy Step Code, as well as any obstacles or incentives related to these options.

During this workshop, participants will: 

  • Learn about potential policies and how other governments are implementing them
  • Hear from your peers on how they have been achieving higher performance, lower carbon homes and buildings
  • Share your perspectives and experiences with the Regional District, City of Nanaimo, District of Lantzville, and Town of Qualicum Beach on different proposed policy pathways for new construction.

Industry feedback collected through this survey will help inform local government staff recommendations on implementation of policy options for advancing net zero energy and low carbon buildings in: the Regional District of Nanaimo, City of Nanaimo, District of Lantzville, and Town of Qualicum Beach. This includes options available under the BC Energy Step Code and the new Zero Carbon Code.
