Acting for Climate Together

The City of Nanaimo and Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) are seeking local neighborhood teams to sign up as volunteers for the second year of the Acting for Climate Together (ACT) initiative. The ACT initiative inspires, educates and encourages existing groups (such as neighbourhood associations, community groups, sports teams and businesses), and individuals looking to form new groups, to work together to take action. To participate, teams will be encouraged to complete recommended climate actions and develop their own climate action projects. Participants will meet with City of Nanaimo/RDN staff on a recurring basis to discuss their neighbourhood projects and receive feedback and support.


New in 2024! Community-based projects may be eligible for Climate Action Seed funding to support the successful completion of projects. To find out more, visit:

Sign up early to secure your spot! In 2024, we have space for 15 groups to join. This page will be updated when all the spaces are filled.


Are you looking to volunteer to ACT?

  • Register to Get Involved to receive email notifications about project updates, access the application form and submit any questions you have (click the Register button in top right corner).
  • Find the megaphone logo and hit Subscribe to get updates on ACT.
  • Mark your calendar with Key Dates found on this page.
  • To sign-up as a volunteer to ACT, scroll down to find and complete the Registration Form
    • To attend the Kick-off Event, applications must be submitted by March 15, 2024
    • Applications will be accepted until the maximum number of spots are filled (15)
  • Use the Document Library to download the Brochure and ACT Toolkit.
  • View a recording of the Information Session that was held virtually over Zoom on February 15, 2024 here
  • Submit your questions using the Q&A tool below and check the FAQ's section which will be updated regularly based on the questions asked.
  • Once your team is signed up for ACT, share your team's successes, including your completed actions and Big Action Project ideas below.
