What is a park management plan?
A regional park management plan is the primary guide for caring for a park. It sets a long-term vision, provides strategic goals to guide decision-making, and includes direction on a park’s classification, management zones, policies and potential capital projects.
What has been accomplished since the 2009-2014 management plan?

How will the updated management plan differ from the current plan?
The updated management plan will review and build on the goals and policies outlined in the 2009-2014 management plan, address emerging issues and investigate new recreational and conservation opportunities. It is an opportunity to review current needs and update our management approach to reflect community values of today.
Why is the RDN engaging the community?
Continued collaboration between the RDN, First Nations, interest holders and park users is needed to build a comprehensive understanding of Englishman River Regional Park and develop a management plan that reflects a broad range of needs and interests.
How can I join the conversation?
There will be a drop-in open house held at the Top Bridge parking lot located at the end of Allsbrook Road, Parksville, on Saturday, April 18, 2026 from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. where you can chat with the project team and share your ideas for the park. Additionally, an online survey is available until April 26. Hard copies of the survey will be available at the drop-in open house.
