Nanaimo Regional Hospital District (NRHD) - Motion to Fund 100% of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab

On December 9, 2025, the Nanaimo Regional Hospital District (NRHD) Board passed a motion to fund 100% of the cardiac catheterization lab project at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital as part of its total overall combined contribution towards the new patient tower and cardiac catheterization lab. In February 2025, the Board had previously passed a motion to fund the business plan for the new patient tower and catheterization lab at the NRGH.

The NRHD has a robust long-term financial strategy in place to meet its funding commitment to the patient tower and catheterization lab. The NRHD is committed to working in partnership with the Government of BC to find creative solutions to mitigate barriers (e.g., financial ) to see these priority projects move forward through the provincial approval process and construction.

These motions reaffirm the Board’s dedication to improving healthcare infrastructure in the region.
