NRHD Chair Appears Before the Government of British Columbia Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services

Between May and June each year, the Government of British Columbia’s Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services invites British Columbians to provide input on the next provincial budget. People and organizations can share their thoughts, ideas, and priorities in by appearing before the Committee or in writing. The Committee then makes recommendations to the Legislative Assembly for the next provincial budget.

On June 19, 2026, Janice Perrino, Chair of the Nanaimo Regional Hospital District, appeared before the Committee. She asked the Committee to recommend that the Government of British Columbia move the patient tower and cardiac catheterization lab projects at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital to the business planning stage once the concept plan is complete.

Island Health is currently working on the concept plan, which is expected to be completed in summer 2027.
