The RDN has received a zoning amendment application for a parcel 3141 Galloway Gulch in Electoral Area C. The applicant proposes to rezone the subject property from Rural 1 Zone (RU1) Subdivision District D to Rural 1 (RU1) Subdivision District F to facilitate a proposed two-lot subdivision under the “Regional District of Nanaimo Land Use and Subdivision Bylaw No. 500, 1987”.

    We recognize that this process looks different than what the community is used to and appreciate your patience as we navigate this new tool. At the same time, we recognize that this tool offers a new and exciting opportunity to expand, improve, and modernize the way we engage with the community on development applications.

    To ensure that participants feel heard and have ample time to ask questions and share their thoughts, we will ensure that any additional information or revisions to application that are proposed to address community concerns will be posted on the Get Involved page prior to the application proceeding to the Board for consideration of 1st and 2nd reading.

    In addition, please note that you may provide input at any time after August 11, 2021 up until the public hearing by using this online engagement tool. A date has not been set for the public hearing and will not be determined unless and until the bylaw receives 1st and 2nd reading. The methods available to ask questions and provide input now will be available to you through the process until the public hearing. All input provided will be summarized and will be presented to the Board. Community feedback received after 1st and 2nd reading will be presented to the Board along with the summary of the public hearing.
