• The 2022 Parks and Trails Strategy identified developing trail connections as a goal to improve the livability of the region and wellbeing of its residents.
• The E&N rail corridor from Englishman River to Alberni Highway is a potential connection between the existing Top Bridge Regional Trail and the Coombs to Parksville Rail Trail. Once the trail is completed, there will be a continuous 16-kilometre multi-use route from Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park to Coombs.

• The existing gravel access road is within Island Corridor lands. It is not designated as a public trail and is not maintained. 
• There is no formal trail along Alberni Highway to connect Despard Avenue and the railway corridor.
• There is no formal trail within Top Bridge Community Park to connect the railway corridor and Top Bridge Crossing.

• The 2025-2029 Financial Plan includes $763,163 in the Regional Parks Capital budget funded from a combination of Growing Communities Funds and reserve funds.
• The project will be constructed and maintained through the Regional Park Service.
