2026-2030 Financial Plan Tools
The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) Board approved the 2026-2030 financial plan on February 24, 2026. To support residents in better understanding their property taxes, a property tax brochure and supplemental information document for each of the RDN's seven electoral areas and four member municipalities have been developed. These documents enable residents in each area to understand the taxation cost for the services they receive, and which are identified on their property tax notices.
The 2026 property tax brochure is a graphical document that on one side sets out the entire Regional District of Nanaimo budget, illustrating Where the Money Comes From and Where the Money Goes in service delivery across the region. The other side is specific to each area and assists residents in understanding their property tax notices, the services they receive and the cost of those services.
The supplemental information document provides additional information for each electoral area and member municipality and clearly sets out:
- Details of all the general services that apply to all taxpayers within each area
- Local services that apply to some of the taxpayers within each area
- The change in tax rate for each service from 2025 to 2026
- Details on services that have a greater impact on the taxation rate change (cost drivers)
Residents are encouraged to register and subscribe to the Budget Talks Get Involved RDN webpage to receive updates directly, ask questions and provide feedback. Residents can also view the detailed financial plan and other financial reports here.
