Do you know what the Regional District of Nanaimo does?

We provide regional governance and services from Cedar, Cassidy, Extension and Gabriola Island in the south, all the way west to Errington and Coombs, and north to Bowser. If you live in the municipalities of Nanaimo, Lantzville, Parksville or Qualicum Beach, then you live in the Regional District of Nanaimo too! We are seven unincorporated Electoral Areas and four municipalities, home to over 170,000 people and growing.

The RDN is governed by a 19-member regional board, comprised of twelve directors from locally-elected municipal councils, and seven directors elected by Electoral Area residents. Learn who your RDN Board of Directors are at: rdn.bc.ca/regional-board

We provide over 100 services to our residents! Check out our video to learn more about them at: getinvolved.rdn.ca/who-we-are/videos

We are highlighting who we are and what we do all this week which is Local Government Awareness Week. Visit our Get Involved RDN page at: getinvolved.rdn.ca/who-we-are to learn more. All who are registered on Get Involved by June 16 will be entered to win one of three great prizes of your choice! Choose from an RDN Recreation or Parks $100 gift certificate, two one-month passes for RDN Transit, a $100 credit on your next RDN utility bill (you must live in one of the RDN’s electoral areas to receive this prize) or a $100 gift certificate for a local restaurant or business.
