December 5, 2019 Construction Update

The replacement of the wastewater forcemain along Haliburton Street is complete and the pipeline is operational. This new pipeline will take substantial pressure off the wastewater system with the additional capacity that it provides.

Work on the overall project is only 50% complete but the project will be taking a break over the Holiday Season and will start back up again in early January 2020.

The work scheduled for January until the end of May 2020 will include the replacement of the ageing City of Nanaimo water mains and the upgrade of the pavement surface along Haliburton street within the project area. Additional Upgrade work around and inside the Chase River Pump Station will continue till late summer 2020, but this work will have minimal impact on the public.

The temporary road surface will be in place and maintained by Milestone Contracting until the weather warms up to allow for the final pavement upgrade.

The Regional District of Nanaimo and the City of Nanaimo would like to thank you for your patience through this important project and wish you all a wonderful Holiday Season.
