Cedar Community Improvements

The need for a playground and outdoor pickleball courts in the Cedar area has been identified by the community. The land adjacent to the Cedar Skate Park has been identified as a suitable location for the new playground, and the existing tennis court within the Cedar Community Secondary School grounds was identified as a possible location for pickleball courts.
In addition to the playground and pickleball courts, a proposal to design and install a bike pump track in this area was presented to the RDN. The new bike pump track announced on August 19, 2025, is being funded through a generous donation from the Stevie Smith Legacy Foundation. To learn about the Stevie Smith Legacy Foundation, visit www.steviesmithlegacy.com. Construction of the pump track, by the Foundation, is anticipated to start in 2026. The RDN will manage and maintain the pump track after it has been constructed.
A draft concept plan was presented to the Electoral Area A Parks, Recreation and Culture Committee (PRCC) showing how these amenities could be integrated within the Cedar Skate Park lands and School District 68 property.
