General Health Summit (the Summit) Information

    What is the Summit about?

    This event will bring together First Nations, local governments, provincial representatives, community health organizations and the business sector to engage in meaningful dialogue about the future of healthcare throughout the Central and North Island region.

    The Summit will focus on continued investment and growth in healthcare facilities and services and explore innovative solutions and partnerships to strengthen our healthcare system. 

    Who should attend the Summit?

    Leaders from First Nations, the Province, local governments, health authorities, community health organizations and the business sector.

    The Summit will be by invitation only.  Please do not fill out the registration form unless you have received an invitation.

    What topics will be covered during the Summit?

    A variety of healthcare-related topics will be covered during the Summit.  

    When and where is the Summit taking place?

    The Summit will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre in downtown Nanaimo.

Registration and Tickets

    How do I register for the Summit?

    Registration information will be shared as it becomes available. 

    How many seats will be available?

    There will be 250 seats available.

    Is there a registration fee to attend the Summit?

    There is no registration fee for the Summit.

    If I register but cannot attend the Summit, can I transfer my seat to someone else?

    If you are not able to attend the Summit after receiving a registration confirmation please notify Megan Ruddell at mruddell@rdn.bc.ca or at 250-816-9335. Your seat will be given to the first individual on the registration waitlist.

    Will I receive a confirmation that I am registered for the Summit?

    Yes, when you submit your registration you will receive an email indicating your registration has been received.  Additionally, you will receive a confirmation email with details of your registration by October 15.

    If I am waitlisted for the Summit, how will I know?

    Upon registration, if you are waitlisted you will be notified by email.  People on the waitlist will be contacted as seats become available.

Event Logistics

    What is the schedule?

    The Summit will be held between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2025. 

    We are in the process of shaping the event program in partnership with First Nations, the Province, health authorities, and other participants.  We invite you to subscribe to the webpage to receive updates. 

    Will meals or refreshments be provided?

    Lunch and refreshments will be provided to registered participants.

    Is there parking available at the venue?

    Yes, there is parking in the Port Theatre parkade beside the Vancouver Island Conference Centre and limited street parking.  

    Is the venue accessible?

    Yes, the Vancouver Island Conference Centre is fully accessible. The facility includes wheelchair services, accessible doorways and walkways, elevators, washrooms and designated accessible parking spaces.

    Registrants will also be asked when registering if they have any specific requirements to help ensure the event is accessible.

    Who are the keynote speakers and panelists?

    We are in the process of shaping the event program in partnership with First Nations, Health Authorities, the Province and other participants.  Updates will be posted on the Summit webpage.  We invite you to subscribe to the webpage to receive updates.

    Can I choose which sessions to attend?

    Yes, when registering for the Summit you will be able to choose which breakout sessions you want to attend.

    Will there be Q&A opportunities with speakers?

    This is a discussion-based Summit and there will be many opportunities to participate in sessions throughout the day.

Networking and Engagement

    Are there networking opportunities?

    Yes, there will be opportunities for networking throughout the event including the lunch provided to registered participants.

    Can I schedule one-on-one meetings with other participants or speakers?

    The Summit does not provide an opportunity for one-on-one meetings with other participants or speakers.

Certificates and Continuing Education Credits

    Is the Summit eligible for continuing education credits (CEUs/CMEs)?

    The Summit is not eligible for continuing education credits such as CEUs or CMEs.
