2414 Island Highway East

The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) has received a request for a resolution for a proposed Non-Medical Cannabis Retail Store Licence. The applicant intends to establish a provincially licensed store within an existing building on property located at 2414 Island Highway East. The subject property is currently zoned Commercial 5 (CM5) in "Regional District of Nanaimo Land Use and Subdivision Bylaw No. 500, 1987" (Bylaw 500).

The legal sale of cannabis is considered a retail use and is permitted as a 'Tourist Store' the CM5 zoning that applies to the property (see Document Library). In order to proceed with the Non-Medical Cannabis Retail Store, the applicant has requested a resolution of support from the Regional Board to be provided to the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch as part of the ongoing application process with the Province.
