Huxley Community Park Playground - Electoral Area B

The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) is proposing the implementation of Development Cost Charges (DCCs) for community park development in Electoral Areas:

Electoral Area A - Cedar, South Wellington, Yellowpoint, Cassidy
Electoral Area B - Gabriola, DeCourcy, Mudge Islands
Electoral Area G - French Creek, San Pareil, Little Qualicum
Electoral Area H - Bowser, Qualicum Bay, Deep Bay

This consultation is primarily focused on the developers and home builders currently working in these RDN Electoral Areas.

The new Parks DCCs would not be applied to any development outside Electoral Areas A, B, G and H.

DCCs are fees collected from land developers, on a user pay basis, to help fund the cost of the new infrastructure and parks needed to service new development. DCCs help ensure developers pay their fair share of the costs required to develop new infrastructure and park improvements. The RDN has identified park development projects that need to be constructed to support the additional demands generated by new residential development over the next 20 years.
