Well Drilling Update - September 2026

Since the last update on June 9, 2026, the project has reached several important milestones.

Project Highlights

  • Ridgeline Mechanical Ltd. has been awarded the construction contract to bring three new production wells into operation.
  • Construction is expected to begin in late September 2026, subject to material delivery, and be completed by spring 2027.
  • Island Health has issued the construction permit.
  • Wells PW05 and PW08 have been decommissioned in accordance with the BC Groundwater Protection Regulation.
  • A tree replanting plan is being finalized with RDN Parks Services to replace trees removed in 2025 to accommodate well drilling.

Budget Update

The current estimated project cost is $2,957,822, including contingency for remaining uncertainties and unforeseen conditions. This is approximately 13 per cent below the approved project budget.

Next Steps

  • The RDN will issue a construction notice before on-site work begins.
  • Replanting will be completed in local community parks.
  • The RDN will provide information about repayment options and terms after the project completion.

Thank you for your patience as the RDN continues work to improve water quality in the River’s Edge Water Service Area.
