Rural Residential Minimum Parcel Size Project
Project Overview
The RDN is considering changes to Rural Residential areas in OCPs and zoning to establish a 1.0-hectare minimum parcel size and one dwelling per parcel allowance. This would provide an alternative to building stratas, which are currently used by owners to facilitate two dwellings on 2.0+ hectare properties. These changes would apply to Electoral Areas A, C, E, G and H through Zoning Bylaw 2500 and Electoral Area F though Zoning Bylaw 1285.

What's Happening Now
The project is being delivered in two phases. Phase 1 focuses on creating a process for existing rural residential two dwelling building strata lots. Phase 2 will look at all other lands within the Rural Residential designated lanes.

- Public engagement for Phase 1 will start in Fall 2026
