October 26-October 30, 2026 Generator Commissioning

As part of the ongoing Wellington Pump Station Upgrade, a new backup generator will be commissioned to provide back-up power to the station. This will include running the generator to ensure its function and the control systems for it.

We are posting this notice to advise neighbours of anticipated noise during this commissioning.

Running the generator will produce a level of noise that will be audible to residents who live close to the station along Fillinger Crescent and Entwhistle Drive. The noise will be most noticeable to residents who are directly adjacent to the station.

  • Start-up activities will begin on October 26, 2026 and be finished by October 30, 2026
  • The generator will only be started between 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. except in the occurrence of an unrelated power outage to the area
  • The sound level at the blue circle in the attached map will be similar to hearing a next-door neighbour use a gas-powered lawn mower while you are outside
  • Noise levels will decrease as the distance to the generator increases. People in houses across the street and further along the road will experience noise similar to a neighbour 5-6 houses away using a gas-powered lawn mower
