The need for a playground in the Cedar area has been identified by the community. After evaluating several potential sites, the land adjacent to the Cedar Skate Park has been identified as the most suitable location.

In addition to the playground, there was community interest in adding a bike pump track and pickleball courts. Therefore, a preliminary concept plan has been created to show how these amenities could be integrated within the Cedar Skate Park lands and School District 68 property.

The new bike pump track announced on August 19, 2025, is being funded through a generous donation from the Stevie Smith Legacy Foundation. To learn about the Stevie Smith Legacy Foundation, visit www.steviesmithlegacy.com. Construction of the pump track, by the Foundation, is anticipated to start in 2026. The RDN will manage and maintain the pump track after it has been constructed.
