  • Electoral Area F Governance and Services Study Final Report and Presentation to the Board

    On May 9, 2023, the Regional District of Nanaimo Board passed the following three motions in support of the Electoral Area F Governance and Services Study Committee’s recommendation:

    “1. That the Board receive the Electoral Area F Governance and Services Study Final Report, dated April 2023.

    2. That the Board endorse the Electoral Area F Study Committee’s recommendation to proceed with an incorporation study.

    3. That the Board submit a request to the Minister of Municipal Affairs for approval and funding of an incorporation study for Electoral Area F.”

  • Final Electoral Area F Governance and Services Study Committee Meeting

    The final Electoral Area F Governance and Services Study Committee Meeting will be held on April 26, in the main hall of the Bradley Centre (975 Shearme Rd, Coombs) from 6 to 9:00 p.m.

    At the final meeting, committee members will review the final report, consider options, and decide on recommendations to the Regional District of Nanaimo Board.

    On Wednesday, April 26, the Electoral Area F Governance and Services Study Committee Meeting location has been changed to The Bradley Centre.
    The Meeting will take place in the main hall of The Bradley Centre (975 Shearme Rd, Coombs) from 6:00 to 9:00 PM

    The location is being changed due to the venue being able to successfully support the technical requirements of running the committee meeting.

    Are you interested in hearing the results of the Governance and Services Study survey, and learning more about the feedback received at the Open Houses?
    The Electoral Area F Governance and Services Study Committee will have its second to last Committee Meeting this month. At this month’s meeting, committee members will be introduced to the draft Final Report findings by the study consultants.

    Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at the Arrowsmith Hall at the Coombs Fairgrounds (1014 Ford Rd), 6 -9:00 p.m.

    If not, there is still time! The survey deadline has been EXTENDED to midnight Tuesday January 31, 2023.

    There are different ways to participate in the survey:

    Printed copies have been mailed to residents.

    Residents can bring their completed surveys to:

    The survey deadline is this Friday, January 20, 2023.

    The final Open Houses will be on Wednesday and Thursday (January 11 and 12) at the Meadowood Community Centre!

    Residents are encouraged to attend the session that best suits their schedule.

    The Open Houses will provide a chance to explore information related to the existing governance structure and the services in Area F and offer a chance for residents to express their views, ideas and concerns.

    Thank you to those that have attended previous open houses, the content at these will be the same.

    The study committee welcomes residents’ feedback by completing the survey. Surveys have been mailed to every household and can be found online by clicking this link survey.

    The survey deadline is January 20, 2023.

  • Saturday, December 3 - Open House at Arrowsmith Hall

    The third open house taking place this Saturday at the Coombs Fairgrounds and Event Centre (1014 Ford Rd, Coombs, BC V0R 1M0), located in the Arrowsmith Hall. The Open House will be from 1:00 to 3:30 pm

    Also taking place at the Coombs Fairgrounds will be the Coombs Christmas Market! As the event is both indoors and outdoors, event organizers are anticipating many pedestrians moving around the fairgrounds. Suggested parking is the gravel parking lot across the street on Ford Rd. Please follow the appropriate signage.

    The picture shows a black square for the suggested parking lot, and the dotted pathway shows pedestrian walkways and entrances, with the building highlighted in green being Arrowsmith Hall.

    The Electoral Area F Governance and Services Study Committee hosted its first two open houses in Errington on November 16 and 17.

    All materials shared are now on the website. The Poster Boards, the Study Consultant’s PowerPoint Presentation, and Overview Booklet can be found under the “Background Documents” section.

    If you missed the November dates, there are opportunities to attend more open houses:

    Sat, Dec 3, 2022, at the Arrowsmith Hall at the Coombs Fairgrounds (1014 Ford Rd), 1 – 3:30 p.m.
    Wed, Jan 11, 2023, at the Meadowood Community Centre (1810 Galvin Pl), 6 – 8:30 p.m.
    Thurs, Jan 12, 2023, at the Meadowood Community Centre (1810 Galvin Pl), 6 – 8:30 p.m

    The same information will be presented at each open house. However, please feel free to attend as many open houses as you wish.
