Englishman River Regional Park Management Plan

Englishman River

The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) is updating the management plan for Englishman River Regional Park to guide how the RDN manages and improves the park over the next 20 years.

Englishman River Regional Park is a 207-hectare park located just outside Parksville along the north banks of the Englishman River. The park is a regionally significant ecological area that also provides recreational and cultural benefits to visitors and the surrounding communities. Lands within the park are owned by the Province of BC, The Nature Trust of BC, Ducks Unlimited Canada and the Nature Conservancy of Canada. The RDN manages these lands on behalf of the landowners, guided by the 2009-2014 Englishman River Regional Park Management Plan.

The updated plan will outline the vision and goals for the park and identify management policies and actions to address current challenges and improve the park experience.

How can you get involved and learn more?

How will your ideas affect the park?

Public engagement will help ensure the updated management plan is grounded in community values. The project includes two phases of community engagement.

  • The first phase of public engagement in spring 2026 will ask people how they use the park, what they like about it and what ideas they have to make it better.
  • The second phase of engagement in fall 2026 will share a draft plan and explain how community input shaped it. The public will be invited to provide feedback to help refine the plan.
