The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) is developing an Active Transportation Network Plan for East Wellington and Pleasant Valley in Electoral Area C to enhance active transportation options and strengthen connections to local amenities and services. The plan supports safety and accessibility for residents and visitors of all ages and abilities.
The plan serves as the first step in advancing active transportation in the area. The plan takes a detailed look at existing conditions and identifying opportunities to improve infrastructure that supports walking, cycling and other active transportation modes.

define the proposed network structure, facility types and connections to key destinations,
outline maintenance expectations and responsibilities associated with proposed facilities and
recommend performance indicators to support monitoring of progress, usage and safety outcomes over time.
The draft plan will be reviewed through a second phase of engagement in September with revisions incorporated before it is finalized at the end of 2026.
