Consultation has concluded
On October 14, 2025 the Master Plan was approved by the RDN Board. The Master Plan will be a guiding document for recreation services on Gabriola Island and parks services throughout the whole of Electoral Area B (Gabriola, Mudge, DeCourcy islands). The plan is based on best practices, research and input provided by residents. Thank you to all who participated in the process.

The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) has completed the draft Recreation and Parks Master Plan for Electoral Area B (Gabriola, Mudge and DeCourcy Islands).
This plan will be the guiding document for recreation services on Gabriola Island and parks services in all Electoral Area B (EA B). Using input received from EA B residents through open houses, a survey and other public engagement activities, the draft plan reflects the priority strategies and actions to implement over the next 10 years.
Residents of EA B are invited to review and provide comments on the draft plan by May 19, 2025 before it is finalized in the coming months.
Your participation in this engagement survey is voluntary. If you decide to participate in this survey, you may withdraw at any time.
The personal information you provide is collected by the Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) under sections 26(c) and 26(e) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA) for the purposes of engaging and consulting with the public. The RDN is using a Bang the Table engagement platform that stores the information in Canada. However, Bang the Table staff are located in the US and may access your user profile information to provide assistance at your request.
Some of the questions allow for responses using open-text fields. To protect your privacy and the privacy of others, please do not include any information that could identify you or another person. Identifying information could include a person’s name, address, email or phone number. Any personal information that is inadvertently included in the open-text responses will be deleted once the results of the survey are compiled.

- View the Draft Plan and provide your input by completing the feedback form until May 19, 2025

Master Plan- Final Approval
Electoral Area B Recreation (Gabriola) and Parks Master Plan is currently at this stageThe revised draft Master Plan has been approved by the Advisory Committee. It will go to the RDN Electoral Area Serices Committee (early October) and then the RDN Board for approval in mid-October 2025.
