The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) is developing an Active Transportation Network Plan (ATNP) for Cedar Village in Electoral Area A, to enhance active transportation options and strengthen connections to local amenities and services. The plan supports safety and accessibility for residents and visitors of all ages and abilities.

Building on previous planning efforts, the ATNP serves as the next step in advancing active transportation in the area. The plan builds on the 2009 Electoral Area A Active Transportation Plan and the 2013 Cedar Main Street Village Plan, while taking a more detailed look at existing conditions and identifying opportunities to improve infrastructure that supports walking, cycling, and other active transportation modes.

Why It Matters

  • Safer Routes - Improve safety for walking, biking and rolling
  • Better Connections - Link homes to schools, parks, businesses and services
  • Climate Action - Support low-carbon travel and healthy lifestyles
  • Funding Opportunities - Position the community for provincial and federal infrastructure grant funding
