Welcome to the Team WaterSmart Get Involved RDN page!

Check out all of the great upcoming initiatives being offered throughout the Regional District of Nanaimo. We will keep our community calendar up-to-date with where to find Team WaterSmart - whether it's fun community events, educational workshops, or adventurous outdoor activities.

Water conservation and environmental protection are values shared by all of us so come get involved and help to appreciate our water...because every drop counts!

Spring 2024:

• Water to Earth Month 2024 - Join us and community partners for a series of events from World Water Day on March 22 to Earth Day on April 22 with the themes of Leveraging Water for Peace and the Planet vs Plastics. Check out our events listing for events happening in your community! Also, follow the RDN on Social Media for online contests throughout W2E month for your chance to win a rain barrel and other water-related prizes

• Water Stewardship Rebates- 2024 rebate programs are now open!
• For all RDN residents (electoral area and municipal residents)
  • Irrigation Upgrades and Soil Improvements - up to $675
  • Rainwater Harvesting - up to $1,000
  • Wellhead Upgrades - up to $650
  • Well Water Testing - up to $300 (coming soon)

• Team WaterSmart in your community - Check out our events calendar to see when Team WaterSmart will be in your community with our interactive booth starting on Feb 3, 2024 at Seedy Saturday in Qualicum Beach and on March 3 at Seedy Sunday in Nanaimo.
• Grade 4 and 5 teachers in SD 68&69- Watershed Field Trips are back this year! Also, check out Freshwater Connections- Water Where We Live school modules for Grades K-7.
